July 2nd Kaseya Breach has Limited Impact on CompuType Customers

CompuType IT Solutions has powered off our remote management Kaseya server, but we and our customers are not impacted by the Kaseya ransomware.  While the timeline has changed as things progress, we expect to be back to normal operations within 24-48 hours.

Shortly after 2:00 pm CDT Friday July 2nd, CompuType IT Solutions shut down its GotoCompu Managed Services operations as recommended by our software vendor Kaseya. This has suspended remote access, patching and maintenance processes temporarily while Kaseya evaluates and prepares to bring all customers back online with a new enhanced security update.

It is important to note that CompuType IT Solutions has scanned our VSA server and the servers of several customers. There is absolutely no indication that any CompuType internal system or customer endpoint has been impacted in any way by the attack. Early detection and vigilant efforts on the part of Kaseya and other security partners stopped the propagation of this threat very quickly. Only a very small percentage of Kaseya partners have been affected by the attack.

At this time, the impact to CompuType customers is limited to how our staff can support our customers. While we have other remote access tools at our disposal, users may experience longer wait times for remote support, and/or be notified that an on-site technician is required to support servers and other items that can usually be completed remotely.

The security of our customers data is of paramount importance to all of us at CompuType IT Solutions. We hope to resume normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
